FUNK/HIP HOP
Funk is a music genre that originated in the mid-late 60’s when African American musicians blended soul, jazz and R & B music into rhythmic danceable new form. Hip hop began in the South Bronx of New York City in the 70’s and is a little more freestyle with a battle style within a circular space.
Now a little more commercial, these dynamic, earthy styles of dance also includes locking and popping and are danced to music ranging from Beyonce to Eminin.
A Funk class starts with warm ups, some stretches, some grooves and moves followed by either a funk or hip hop dance choreographed by our fabulous teachers.
Levels ranging from Beginners through to Advanced for children and adults.
Hip Hop Crews often rehearse here so our students can also view these sessions or audition to become part of a Crew.
